The link above is the song I am using for my music video. From the beginning of this project I knew I wanted to use Bastille as my inspiration, as I love their music, image and ultimately their music videos. They're a refreshing group with an amazing ability to create three minute masterpieces. Their videos are fascinating and original, being unlike something I have ever seen. Their "alternative, electronica" sound is perfect for creating an eerie music video, and their cover of Lana Del Rey's "Blue Jeans" is a suitable fit for the type of music video I hope to create.
The song is part of a mixtape which the band released for free in 2012. I downloaded this mixtape the day it came out and have been obsessed with it ever since. I love how they changed the lyrics of the song to be from a male's perspective, which will be interesting for the music video I am creating as you don't see the male's side of the story. The lyrics are then considered to be the story made up in the protagonist's mind, as her story is also left ambiguous.
It's probably worth noting that the mixtape itself is not in copyright, which is why you can use the song. It's also worth tying this into your research a little.
ReplyDeleteI'm concerned about the lack of material on your blog, particularly formal research. Although you touch on this in June, there is very little detailed consideration of music videos in general and the specifics of the genre in particular. By this point, you should have a detailed deconstructions of at least five music videos and some considerations of how these are influencing your thinking (basically, what you've looked at and how these have helped you develop your ideas). There should also be some notes about branding, some notes about the print products and some comments about how these ideas link into Section A of the exam. At the moment, none of this is present and the blog in itself, although in an early stage, is only really a Level 1 piece. You need to upload all the material you say you have in note form as a priority, by the end of the week - I have informed Mrs Christie of my concerns.
